Job Title: Electrical GIS Technician

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Electrical Shop Supervisor, performs specialized technical work in the operation and maintenance of GIS (Geographic Information System); CAD drafting, GIS data entry, graphic editing, geographic data analysis, production of a wide variety of maps and schematic reports and other GIS related responsibilities as assigned. This is a technical position requiring knowledge of computer system operations, database systems, computer-aided drafting, electrical work, and design.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency, and a combined total of three years of experience and or professional training in one or more of the following areas: computer-aided design and drafting, GIS surveying, computer data entry, electrical maintenance, or electrical systems. Working knowledge of personal computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Excel, Access, Power Point, Word, AutoCAD and ArcInfo. Essential Functions

  1. Works with other trades in electrically-related equipment such as electrical distribution, elevators, fire alarm systems and electrical aspects of electronic equipment.
  2. Responsible for maintaining and periodically updating equipment history log sheets and P.M. order sheets to meet requirement of history and legality for all equipment items.
  3. Provides GIS support for utility department and other city departments, as required.
  4. Generate high quality cartographic layouts for specific projects, and meetings
  5. Creates and maintains AutoCAD drawings and systems maps for the Plant Operations Department (Electric, Water, Wastewater and Storm Drain).Ensures adherence to safe work methods, procedures and practices.
