Job Summary
Designs, constructs, calibrates, adapts, tests and/or troubleshoots sophisticated instrumentation used in research projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or research related field plus three years of related engineering experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
Incumbent independently determines procedures performed in experiments and testing of prototypes, instruments, etc. This position may be given budgetary control regarding supplies and equipment, however major purchases require approval from the supervisor. The incumbent may also represent the department in making contacts with other agencies which can potentially provide needed support for department operations.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Seldom: Hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
