Job Summary

Provides specialized electronic equipment for those doing research in the department by designing and supervising the fabrication and maintenance of electronic research equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, or a related field, or equivalency; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Experience in research and development highly desirable.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides specialized electronic techniques in support of various department research projects by designing and supervising the fabrication of research equipment.
  2. Consults with research personnel to define and analyze problems and determine alternatives and solutions for research projects and equipment. Assists the principal investigator in evaluating data.
  3. Provides an effective maintenance facility for electronic equipment, including ordering all supplies and equipment needed in the fabrication of product development and equipment.
  4. Surveys technical literature and commercially available instruments in order to evaluate cost, quality and potential use of new equipment in research.
  5. May hire, train and supervise support electronic technicians.
