Job Summary

Provides specialized electrical techniques in support of various department research projects by designing and supervising the fabrication, maintenance, testing, calibration and alteration of equipment and/or related materials.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Two years related experience preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Designs, extracts, characterizes and supervises the fabrication of technological research equipment and/or related materials.
2. Responsible for the database management of materials and equipment by handling database validation, design/implementation of graphical display representations, and development of simulation models.
3. Consults with research personnel to define and analyze problems, determine solutions and alternatives for research requirements, and evaluate data.
4. May oversee the maintenance of the electrical equipment in a facility by ordering supplies and equipment needed in the fabrication of research equipment, evaluate the cost and quality of new equipment, and conduct an ongoing survey of technical literature.
5. Designs experimental protocols and performs sophisticated troubleshooting.
