Job Title: Assistant Manager, Campus Mail

Job Summary

Oversees the training and processing in all production areas within the campus mail facility.

Qualifications

Eight years work experience with mail distribution, machine operation, assembly or related work experience with at least three of these years in a mail facility and two of these years in a progressively more responsible supervisory capacity required. Knowledge of U.S. Postal regulations; a valid Utah driver's license; the ability to routinely move up to 60 lbs.; familiarity with personal computers; and demonstrated effective communication and human relations skills are also required.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides training to employees, according to manufacturers' specifications, on the appropriate operation of equipment for all functional areas (bulk mail, campus mail, and U.S. Postal Service mail).
  2. Maintains a current knowledge of mailing equipment and recommends equipment purchases to Facility Manager.
  3. Operates specialized mechanical and computerized equipment required to process mail.
  4. Oversees facility during Manager's absence.
  5. Generates second class postage reports, production reports, and other reports as required using the department's Mail Management Information System computer program.
  6. Inputs labor and supply charges into billing statements using the department's Mail Management Information System computer program.
  7. Contacts vendors and arranges for service and/or repair on highly specialized equipment.
  8. Assists in all areas of the central mail facility as required to meet university time frames.
