Job Summary
Develops, implements and coordinates the Utah Poison Control Center’s state-wide poison prevention education outreach program. Evaluates program effectiveness and makes modifications as necessary. Oversees the provision of materials, resources, and training programs for the Poison Center’s outreach activities for health care professionals and the public.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Education, health-related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); three years full-time experience in providing health/public education, community outreach or equivalency; demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills; and demonstrated ability to conceptually develop training and marketing materials for various educational programs required. Demonstrated public speaking skills; excellent writing skills; and the ability to foster individual/group facilitation; and a valid Utah driver’s license also required.
Advanced degree in Health Education and/or Public Health; fluency in Spanish; and previous news and/or public service announcement writing experience preferred.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
The incumbent has the authority to design, present and modify poison education programs with little direction from the Poison Control Center Director. He/she assists the Director in preparing the education program budget.
Comments
The Utah Poison Control Center is a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, state and privately funded operation whose mission is to answer poisoning emergency telephone calls and provide the public with poison information. The incumbent is required to travel throughout the State of Utah to disseminate information to a variety of target audiences in Utah communities.
