Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Summary

This position supervises and coordinates KUED production facilities, equipment, operations and support personnel.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field, or equivalency; plus five years experience in broadcasting to include three years supervisory experience required. Knowledge of all aspects of television production including studio, field and live remote production editing and an understanding of digital processes and applications appropriate to television and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.

Demonstrated ability in computer use, including facilities scheduling and spreadsheet software programs, a working knowledge of the operation of video production equipment, proficiency in managing a diverse production facility, managing budgets and direct supervision of employees preferred.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Essential Functions

  1. Oversees the scheduling of production equipment and personnel.
  2. Supervises Production Assistants for the KUED Production Department including responsibility for hiring, training and evaluations.
  3. Facilitates the production process by actively participating in strategic meetings and on-going coordination with producers.
  4. Delegates production responsibilities to appropriate crew team leaders to facilitate effective and efficient use of production resources.
  5. Resolves competing requests for personnel and equipment.
  6. Maintains a useable list of freelance crew and contracts from that list.
  7. Notifies the Technical Services department of production needs, concerns or opportunities.
  8. Provides ongoing evaluation of production policy, facilities and equipment utilization.
  9. Manages external relations with University, state agency, media and/or video production entities interested in scheduling or hiring KUED Production facilities or personnel.
  10. Ensures delivery of contracted services and accurate information for appropriate billing for services.
  11. Actively participates in the development of annual operating budget plans for KUED Production and in the budgeting and planning for new equipment initiatives associated with the department.

Problem Solving

The incumbent has the authority to hire, fire, train and evaluate staff and to also hire contract staff. They have the ability to consult with producers, production supervisors and crew to determine the best methods for KUED productions and to accommodate changes in the production schedule.

Comments

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
