Job Summary

Under general supervision, provides technological support to faculty, engineering professionals, and/or management.

Qualifications

High school diploma plus one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or equivalency; a valid Utah Driver’s License at time of hire; and, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

Audio-visual technical aptitude, knowledge of media-production, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. are preferred.

This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Essential Functions

  1. Selects, modifies, sets-up, and programs systems and equipment or procedures necessary to meet specific project requirements.
  2. Tests, maintains, modifies and/or repairs existing and new equipment, including electronic and mechanical apparatus, personal computers and computer peripherals.
  3. Creates and maintains records in the form of video, mechanical drawings, documentary photographs, databases, and narrative reports.
  4. Operates or assembles related devices and systems according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of systems and components.
  5. Edits digital media and/or convert files from analogue to digital video.
  6. Builds and maintains good working relationships with customers.
  7. May participate on committees in support of related projects and/or functions.

Problem Solving

Performs technical tasks and when troubles arise this position must be able to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment. Major challenges and problems facing the incumbent include working under production deadlines, arranging transportation, gathering research material, scheduling appointments, and arranging equipment.

Comments

The incumbent will transfer heavy equipment in and out of vehicles and across campus, be subject to long periods of standing and/or may be exposed to various chemicals or biohazards while working within the hospital environment.
