Job Summary

Performs one of many or all tasks associated with theater technical work including stage carpentry, scene painting, lighting, audio, prop making and costuming.

Qualifications

Two years of full time professional experience in one or all of the above listed skills technical theatrical skills required.

Essential Functions

  1. Builds stage scenery employing carpentry, welding, rigging, plastic fabrication, foam carving and fabric construction skills.
  2. Mixes paints and paints stage scenery employing stenciling, dry brushing, marbling, pouncing, spattering, spraying, and papering techniques.
  3. Supervises part-time crews during hang, focus, and set-up of lighting and runs light board or rehearsals and performances.
  4. Prepares sound and runs soundboard for performances.
  5. Prepares properties for each production by purchasing, borrowing, adapting, re-upholstering; or creates properties using paper, fabric, plastic, metal, or wood crafts.
  6. Constructs costumes for each production by researching, pattern making, cutting, sewing, and fitting to actors.
  7. Climbs ladders, moves heavy scenery pieces, and works with a wide variety of power tools.
  8. Supervises student assistants in apprentice positions.
