Job Summary

Using various painting techniques and artistic talents constructs all drops and scenery for use in theatrical productions at the Pioneer Memorial Theatre.

Qualifications

Three years experience in theatrical scenery painting; demonstrated oral and written communications skills; and a commitment to providing excellent customer service required.

Essential Functions

  1. Sews and paints muslin or scrim drops using paint brushes, rollers, and sprayers to prepare a suitable surface for theatrical scenery.
  2. Sketches with charcoal the artist's rendering of the drop which can be up to 30 feet high and 50 feet wide.
  3. Prepares slide and works from this slide, enlarges and projects onto drop the scene to be depicted, paints the broad areas, then goes back over the drop to do specific detail work.
  4. Decides upon proper color selection and uses Devoe system of color selection to mix paints in order to create proper blending to create desired special effects.
