Job Summary

This position oversees the KUED studio facilities and remote television production operations and acts as director for locally produced programs.

Qualifications

Eight years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in television production at a comparably sized television station, to include two years in a supervisory role. Experience should include a thorough knowledge of television production methods, equipment, staging, set-up, composition, and lighting techniques. Effective time management and organizational skills, along with excellent customer service and communication skills are also required.

Bachelor’s degree in television broadcasting is preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Meets with Producers/Directors and Team leaders to determine studio and remote production/program needs and requirements
  2. Designs and maintains lighting looks for programs and acts as lighting director
  3. Oversees production crews to create the desired effect to meet production goals
  4. Responsible for supervising the production crew, including determining work assignments, hiring, firing, evaluating performance, and implementing disciplinary practices
  5. Develops and implements training programs for technical staff
  6. Serves as the Technical Director to support studio-based productions
  7. Oversees the construction of stylistic scenery, furniture, props, and studio equipment
  8. Formulates procurement methods for the purchase of studio equipment and manages the studio budget
  9. Acts as unit manager for special programs produced off-site
  10. Participates in meetings regarding technical applications and department specific strategic planning
  11. May periodically perform the duties of camera operator, floor manager, and/or technical director
