Job Title: Chief Video Editor

Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the activities of the editing of television programs and editing promotional and underwriting segments, as well as interstitials and credits for KUED-TV.  The Chief Video Editor also oversees the AACIP grant and building of the KUED production archive. 

Qualifications

Ten years related professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience should include video production, with an emphasis on editing full-length television programs, along with familiarity with PBS and FCC standards, rules, and regulations.  The ability to  make creative decisions, work under pressure, and maintain organized efforts while assuring high technical and aesthetic standards is also required. Experience working with advanced videotape and tapeless technologies, and non-linear editing systems is strongly preferred.



Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Arts, or a related area is preferred along with experience in staff supervision and scheduling.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as the team leader for all video post-production originating from KUED-TV
  2. Operates editing systems and oversees video, audio, and graphics operators
  3. Supervises KUED production staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, and distribution of work assignments
  4. Coordinates the purchasing, maintenance, repair, and installation of  equipment and monitors spending for assigned areas
  5. Participates in meetings associated with video editing and department specific strategic planning.
  6. Assures that KUED productions adhere to FCC rules and regulations, and are completed within the standards adopted by PBS
  7. Develops and implements training programs for technical staff
  8. Serves as the Director and/or Technical Director in support of studio-based productions
  9. May periodically perform the duties associated with all editing and scheduling positions.
