Job Title: Vehicle Operator 2

Job Summary

Operates equipment and medium weight vehicles in order to deliver and transport people/items.

Qualifications

Six months experience operating commercial motor vehicles (over 26,000 lbs. GVW); a valid Utah Commercial Drivers License class A or B; an airbrake license; Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card; proof of insurability; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Ability to pass a drug /alcohol test required. During employment, must submit to random drug & alcohol testing.

Dependent upon the department of hire, one or more of the following endorsements may be required: HAZMAT, Tanker, Passenger. The ability to move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) may be required.

Essential Functions

  1. Operates a variety of vehicles including: shuttle buses, dump trucks, flat beds, forklifts, and a variety of other equipment.
  2. Transports and delivers items (hazardous material, equipment and supplies). Depending upon area of assignment may transport passengers.
  3. Performs maintenance service on equipment as necessary to facilitate its continued operation.
  4. Inspects equipment daily for damage, equipment failures, and safety items to ensure the safe use of the equipment while performing assigned tasks.

Problem Solving

A challenge the incumbent may encounter involves using his/her own judgement in prioritizing the workload to ensure timely, accurate deliveries are made.
