University of Utah Job Description
Operates a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles in construction and maintenance activities in order to service the University Community.
A valid Utah's Commercial Driver's License class A or B and a current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card required. A minimum of two years experience operating commercial vehicles (over 26,000 lbs. GVW) or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); occasional moving of heavy objects (up to 100 lbs. capability) experience; demonstrated customer services skills; and oral and written communications skills also required.
Under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991, the incumbent is subject to drug and alcohol pre-employment test and random screening thereafter.

The incumbent must be skilled in the operation of a variety of heavy vehicles and equipment and must be responsible for the action and operations of said equipment. This position will be subject to unusual work hours, particularly during periods of inclement winter weather. All University policies and procedures concerning call-back and/or overtime pay (if appropriate) will apply. This position is required to operate any of the necessary pieces of heavy equipment under all conditions found on campus.
