Job Summary
Supervises the operation and maintenance of the High Temperature Water Plant, which provides heating and high temperature water for human comfort and scientific experimental needs. Insures that proper procedures are followed by operators and mechanics.
Qualifications
Eight years previous experience in High Temperature Water operations and generation to include boiler operations, water treatment, millwrighting, pneumatic controls, and technical instrumentation, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated oral and written communications skills; previous supervisory and management skills; and demonstrated customer services skills also required.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
The incumbent is given authority to make expenditures from his/her authorized assigned budget within the guidelines of University policy. He/she also has the authority to hire, fire, train and make salary decisions on employees assigned to the HTW Plant and to prioritize and make work assignments.
Challenges encountered in this position may include maintaining a multi-million dollar, 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation; and maintaining a safety conscious work area that is loaded with highly dangerous work.
Comments
The incumbent must maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the operating maintenance of individual trades areas such as welding, pipefitting, instrumentation, water treatment, operations, and general mechanics.
