Job Summary
Performs any electrical-related work, including installations, alterations, inspection, maintenance, operation and repair, in and around the University campus, with oversite from journeyman level electrician.
Qualifications
Licensed or have ability to license as an apprentice electrician in the State of Utah and demonstrated human relation and effective communications skills required.
Continued compliance with the qualified apprentice program is required. This will include classroom participation, and on the job training or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) as required by the program.
Dependent upon department of assignment, a valid Utah driver’s license may be required.

Problem Solving
Incumbents will experience a wide variety of problems and will need to make decisions about the appropriate equipment to use, the most efficient and effective manner to resolve the problem. The incumbent is to interpret drawings select materials and determine the most effective type of construction, while making sure that the work meets Utah codes and regulations.
Comments
There is considerable physical activity requiring heavy physical work, such as lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. The work environment also involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
