Job Summary
Oversees the acquisition, installation, maintenance and proper operation of the University computer based building automation/energy management system and individual building automatic temperature controls. Supervises the scheduling and operating of all campus heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems on a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week basis.
Qualifications
Five years of progressively more responsible experience in industrial electronic repair and electronic and pneumatic instrumentation or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated oral and written communications skills; previous supervisory experience; demonstrated customer services skills; and oral and written communications skills required.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
The incumbent is given authority to establish operation schedules for energy conservation; to establish emergency facility operating procedures; and to establish system breakdown and preventive maintenance repair priorities. The incumbent sets the shift rotation assignments, and most Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system improvements. Authority is also give to make expenditures from assigned budget within budget guidelines and the hiring and firing of employees within the System Operations area.
Problems encountered in this position may include trying to communicate with rotating shift employees, the training of new employees, and trying to find employees who have the right qualifications to handle the job.
