Job Summary
Installs, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all door closures, window latches and related hardware and all restroom door hardware and partitions.
Qualifications
Journeyman carpenter and two years direct experience in doors and door closures; strong mechanical abilities or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve situations with doors and closures required. Demonstrated customer service skills; and oral and written communications skills to deal effectively with others are also required.
Certification to rebuild door closures, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employ in the position preferred.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
Incumbents operate with very little direct supervision. May function as a leadworker or crew leader on specific assignments, by supervising and instructing personnel of a lower or similar classification. Independent judgement is used in choosing materials, tools and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.
Comments
The incumbent must be aware of safety at all times due to possibility of serious injury from power equipment or on repair sites. The incumbent should also possess hand tools for use in this position. This position is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to emergencies as needed.
The individual must be very reliable and punctual with all repairs, as security is usually a great factor in dealing with doors, door closures, hardware, etc.
