Job Summary

Sets up special events throughout the campus to include athletic events, concerts, etc. Maintains related indoor and outdoor facilities/grounds.

Qualifications

Six months experience* required, one year experience preferred. The ability to perform heavy lifting and stooping; the ability to use a variety of equipment; a commitment to providing excellent customer service; and a valid driver’s license also required.

*Experience may be in custodial or grounds maintenance depending upon area of assignment.

Essential Functions

1. Prepares the venue for athletic competition. Which may include structural creation, set-up, and takedown.
2. Orders, receives and unloads equipment or supplies.
3. Sets up chairs, tables and other equipment or supplies needed for each event.
4. Performs planned maintenance within various facilities.
5. Participates during the special event by providing incidental service related to the event.
6. May be responsible for grounds keeping of event areas including mowing, seeding, edging, painting, clean-up, etc.
7. May clean offices, restrooms, concourse areas using vacuums, buffers, mops, scrubbers, chemicals, cleaners, etc.
8. May be required to provide transportation to and from the events.

Comments

This is not an 8:00 to 5:00 job but very often requires long or irregular hours, depending upon the needs of the special event. The responsibility is to follow through on the implementation of maintenance, grounds keeping and special event setups as directed.
