Job Summary
Supervises and assists in training a custodial crew by assigning duties and instructing new workers in the proper use of equipment and materials, to achieve a high level of cleanliness in University buildings.
Qualifications
Two years of previous custodial experience; the ability to lift 50 lbs.; the ability to climb a minimum of six feet on an authorized stepladder or scaffolding; and demonstrated oral and written communication skills required. Previous supervisory experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) would be helpful.

Problem Solving
This position is given the authority to shift employees under his/her supervision in order to accomplish the daily workload.
Problems that may be encountered in this position include trying to keep assigned area clean with less than 100% staffing of a crew; and trying to motivate employees to do a thorough job.
Comments
The incumbent is a working crew leader and must be willing and able to perform all duties normally expected of lower level custodians. However, his/her supervision responsibilities should take precedence as the need arises.
