Job Summary

Assists with various building projects and performs associated coordination tasks.

Qualifications

One year of related experience or equivalency; demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience; familiarity with the physical plant; and, demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Familiarity with department organization, objectives and policies and procedures is preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Coordinates building maintenance and repair with Campus Facilities Maintenance Division.
2. Assists in coordination of remodeling and construction to achieve minimal disruption of services.
3. Assembles, disassembles and relocates shelving, furniture and equipment.
4. Locates and pulls books and other library material from existing shelves, sorting and interfiling classified materials in proper order.
5. May lead a hands-on team of up to 20 part-time employees in accomplishing the above tasks, and is responsible for setting deadlines and ensuring they are met.

Problem Solving

Must be able to organize, motivate and direct a team of workers; work with simple hand tools; understand written and oral instructions. Must be familiar with or be willing and able to learn the Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal classification systems.

Comments

Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, and push a loaded book truck.
