Job Summary

Builds, assembles and prepares lecture and laboratory models which serve as classroom aids to faculty members and instructors. Assists with the mechanical building, repair and maintenance of student experiments in undergraduate laboratories.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or equivalency, and two years professional experience with electricity, electronics and general mechanical applications or equivalency; the ability to work independently; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.

Essential Functions

  1. Assists professors in their teaching responsibilities by coordinating demonstrations in electricity, mechanics, sound, heat and light. Sets up and makes recommendations for demonstrations.
  2. Trains new personnel in the proper handling and use of equipment used for demonstrations.
  3. Builds, repairs and maintains demonstration parts and apparatus as needed.
  4. Performs minor machining duties as required.
  5. Assists professors by describing demonstration procedures, proctoring exams, and operating audio-visual equipment.
