Job Summary

Coordinates and oversees all aspects of training within the Home Dialysis Training Center. Develops curricula and accountability materials. Selects and supervises instructors and students. Coordinates clinical and academic training. Evaluates the Dialysis Instructor Training program and the Paid Home Dialysis Assistant Study, the training of partners and nursing staff.

Qualifications

Current LPN licensure in the state of Utah and one year experience as an LPN; or a Bachelor's degree in a related area, or equivalency; or have served as a CEO of a Dialysis facility prior to the final institution of regulations governing facilities effective 1976; and knowledge of dialysis procedures and techniques required.

RN licensure is perferred. 

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Essential Functions

  1. Collaborates with the Unit Coordinator, instructor and staff to keep training running smoothly, and assists coordinators in clinical area as needed.
  2. Represents the educational facility of the unit on the Home Dialysis Aides Program, and is a member of the Education Committee of ESRD Region #5.
  3. Coordinates all aspects of the training programs from selection to supervision of curricula.
  4. Assesses the training continuously to maintain a quality curricula in each program and provide teaching assistance/guidance to the instructors.
  5. Interviews and selects students, guides students and staff through the learning experience, and supervises staff in the absence of coordinators.
  6. Keeps current on dialysis methods, procedures and equipment to update curricula continually, reorganizes the curriculum into a logical learning sequence, establishes and maintains a recordkeeping system of accountability and provides staff in-services.
  7. Screens and selects trainees for the DTTP and the Paid Aide program, as well as the release, or graduation of the same.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
