Job Summary

Oversees all administrative, financial, personnel, and technical functions of a program in an assigned department. Organizes and assigns duties to employees and advises the departmental administrators of the program’s activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalency; four years of progressively more responsible experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communications skills required.

Master’s degree in an area related to the program is preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Prepares an operating budget, which estimates various expenditures and monitors and reports the status of the budget on a monthly or annual basis.
  2. Reviews all expenditures made by the center including all major equipment acquisitions of over $1,000. Such requests also require approval from the department chairperson.
  3. Coordinates the total financial and personnel management functions of the Center with the corresponding support activity on-campus.
  4. Recruits, interviews, selects, orients, and supervises the non-professional staff members. Assists in the selection process of professional staff members.
  5. Acts as resource person and coordinator for explaining and complying with the University Policies and Procedures.
  6. Manages the workflow by reviewing staff performance through period performance and salary reviews and revising the operating procedures as needed.
  7. Obtains necessary equipment and manages the maintenance of the physical facilities including buildings and equipment.
  8. Negotiates all types of contracts, in behalf of the center, upon approval of the department chairperson.
