Job Title: NMR Service Engineer
Job Code: 2541 Grade/FLSA: F/Exempt

Job Summary

Maintains and services high field superconducting nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, including computer work stations and peripherals, networking hardware, radio frequency equipment and superconducting magnets.

Qualifications

Five years experience (beyond operator's duties) in maintaining and servicing nuclear magnetic resonance equipment; demonstrated communications skills; and a commitment to providing excellent customer service is required. Formal education in electronics or electrical engineering desirable.

Essential Functions

  1. Assumes maintenance responsibility for ten NMR spectrometers and several smaller NMR and ESR instruments.
  2. Assists in the design and construction of equipment for specialized NMR experiments.
  3. Assists in projects to upgrade existing spectrometers to maintain state-of-the-art capability.
  4. Assists in writing grant proposals to obtain funds for new equipment.
