Job Title: Coordinator, Cytology Educatio

Job Summary

This position organizes, coordinates, and directs the educational activities of the Cytopathology Laboratory to include the Cytotechnology Training Program, Continuing Medical Education activities and the Pathology Resident Core Training in Cytopathology. Coordinates and directs the technical aspects of the Cytopathology Laboratory.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a biological science, a related field or equivalency; successful completion of a CAHAE accredited cytotechnology program; ASCP certification as a Cytotechnologist; and three years progressively more responsibility as a ASCP certified Cytotechnologist required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Essential Functions

  1. Organizes, coordinates and directs the administrative activities by maintaining financial and recruitment functions.
  2. Organizes, coordinates and directs the education activities by developing the curriculum, preparing teaching materials, and developing evaluation measures of students' progress.
  3. Develops and implements a Continuing Medical Education program for the Pathology laboratory personnel.
  4. Develops and implements and in-service program for health care professionals.
  5. Organizes and coordinates the educational activities for the Pathology Resident Core Training program.
  6. Directs the preparation and staining of all specimens,
  7. Writes and maintains a departmental procedure manual.

Comments

Working Conditions: This position involves sedentary type work, which is exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; and involves sitting most of the time with occasional standing and walking.
