Job Summary

Coordinates all enforcement, shuttle, pay lot, front office, maintenance, and special event activities and makes decisions in the absence of area Supervisors. Assistant Supervisors work a variety of hours which may require overtime assignments.

Qualifications

Three years of related experience, this includes one year of supervisory experience; the ability to pass a background review, read and write English, handle high stress and crisis situations; the ability to ensure integrity of revenue control systems. Must have a commitment to provide excellent customer services and have a valid Utah driver’s license, and be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.  

Depending on the area of assignment, the ability to obtain a class “B” commercial drivers license with passenger and air brake endorsements within six months of hire, demonstrate knowledge of general maintenance and related tools (ability to lift up to 75 lbs.), patrol parking areas on bike for eight hours, or direct and coordinate the University transit system may also be required.

Essential Functions

  1. Functions as a front line supervisor; ensures the adherence of scheduled hours; posts job announcements; takes disciplinary action when necessary; assists in preparing performance evaluations; etc.
  2. Participates in the interviewing and hiring of new employees
  3. Handles all days off requests and posts shifts openings on board
  4. Handles delegation of any task throughout division
  5. Patrols the entire campus in a motor vehicle, enforcing parking regulations and issuing tickets for violations; authorizes "Failure to Obey" tickets and impounds
  6. Handles incident and accident reports, employee and customer complaints and ticket appeals
  7. Assigns and schedules the refueling of shuttle busses and ensures adequate supplies and their proper maintenance
  8. Monitors schedules of shuttle busses, coordinates with electronics on radio repairs in shuttles and vehicles, and coordinates with motor pool to ensure the daily availability of a full fleet
  9. Trains cashiers in policy and procedures, performs audits and tests of cashiers, handles problems with pay lot equipment and ensures pay lot booths have adequate supplies
  10. Collects after hour envelopes, secures all vehicles and rooms at night and sets alarm in building
  11. Oversees closure of pay lots and ensures all employees and monies are secured at night
  12. Maintains and performs repairs on parking lots, parking structures and parking equipment as assigned
  13. Effectively communicates with Associate Director, Manager, and Supervisor concerning any situations involving department
  14. Ensures all P.M. and nightshift special events are staffed and run effectively and efficiently in the absence of the special event supervisor
  15. Drafts and posts Division Newsletters on 7th & 22nd of each month
  16. Ensures that employees have uniforms and are wearing them

Comments

This position often requires working overtime shifts and may require working in inclement weather conditions.  Incumbents in this position are required to submit to random alcohol and drug testing.
