Job Summary
Orders, receives, inspects, warehouses and issues equipment, materials, and supplies for University departments.
Qualifications
One year shipping and receiving or stockroom experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); the ability to move or manipulate heavy objects; demonstrated human relation skills in dealing with customers; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Computer and/or data entry skills may be preferred.
A valid Utah Driver's license with proof of insurability may be required for persons in positions that require delivery.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
The incumbent has authority to determine the type and price of items to stock and may select vendors. He/she may make decisions regarding special orders, item substitutions, ways to resolve shipping problems, inventory control, and whether to back-order supplies/materials. This position may give input on hiring decisions, division of duties among support staff, and implementation of new procedures. The incumbent may make recommendations regarding the amount of fees to be assessed for the use of specialized equipment.
Examples of problems facing the incumbent include being involved with tracking payment or billing problems with vendors and the University system; determining which supply items to keep in stock; and locating substitutes for items out of stock. The incumbent may also be required to deal with departments regarding supply problems that arise; make certain all items are entered into the computer system and accounted for; solve problems with ordering practices and keep departments informed on ordering techniques; and resolve concerns of dissatisfied customers.

This position may be required to work on nights and/or weekends.

Often: Hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).
Seldom: Extreme cold, extreme heat, noise (there is sufficient noise to cause you to shout in order to be heard above the noise level).

Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.
Often: walking, standing, bending, lifting - up to 50 pounds.
