Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates purchasing, receiving, inspecting, recording and delivery activities for campus departments.

Qualifications

Five years of warehouse or stockroom experience; previous supervisory experience or equivalency; and demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills required.

Dependent upon department of hire a CDL license w/HAZMET endorsement and/or the ability to manipulate heavy objects may be required.

Essential Functions

  1. Supervises receipt of supplies and freight, checks deliveries against purchase orders, verifies items meet specifications.
  2. Maintains records of shipments received and issued to campus departments, goods returned, freight bills, and departmental expenses.
  3. Inspects incoming shipments and notifies purchasing department and/or vendors of any damages.
  4. Determines value and proper insurance for shipments that are sent from the campus and insures shipment is properly packaged.
  5. Supervises employees in assigned area by assisting with hiring, training, assigning duties, recommending salary increases, performing disciplinary actions and recommending departmental budget expenditures.
  6. Arranges delivery of oversized freight loads through the Transportation Department.
  7. May be responsible for training new employees in Department of Defense regulations on handling, storing and transporting hazardous materials.

Problem Solving

Challenges the incumbent may encounter include working with vendors regarding damaged or incorrect shipments, and ensuring vehicles are properly maintained and kept in working order.
