Job Summary

Assists students in specific program areas regarding academic policy and procedure which aids students in making decisions regarding financial aid opportunity, graduation requirements, department requirements, general university information, and manages students' university records in a specific academic area by performing clerical activities to maintain students' files.

Qualifications

Three years of general office experience, one of which in an academic setting; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

College coursework in a related area is preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides policy interpretation for students regarding financial aid, class and graduation requirements, processing academic-related paperwork, and University procedures.
  2. Reviews students' applications for financial aid, admissions into academic programs, or other academic applications, to ensure the paperwork is complete and accurate.
  3. Depending on the academic area, this position may provide guidance for students regarding the different types of financial aid available, program areas being offered, or other areas related to academic services.
  4. Monitors students' academic files to ensure information is complete and updated by filling in information and changing records when applicable.
  5. Prepares paperwork for Student Services and maintains daily records and reports pertaining to specific academic areas.
  6. May arrange classroom usage and order text books for classes being offered each quarter in academic areas.
  7. May perform limited general office duties as required.

Problem Solving

At this level the authority is broad and non-routine matters must be reviewed by the supervisor.

This position is accountable for counseling students regarding policy interpretation to assist students with decisions and procedures regarding financial aid, academic program offerings, and university student services.

This position is also accountable for ensuring the accuracy of academic records for future reports, surveys, and students academic evaluation. Depending on the academic area, this position may also evaluate records for requirements of the university and federal regulations to ensure their accuracy.
