The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards, and overall patient experience. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.PS Genetic Counselor, Temporary License is responsible for providing information and support to families who have members with birth defects, genetic disorders or who may be at risk for a variety of inherited conditions, under the supervision of a Licensed Genetic Counselor. Identifies, investigates, interprets, and communicates potential risk factors and provides support and counseling to families and patients by referring them to relevant support services under the supervision of a Licensed Genetic Counselor. A temporary Genetic Counseling License is required for this position and is only good for 18 months, after which time the candidate must have a full Genetic Counseling License. This position is supervised by a Licensed Genetic Counselor while learning the nuances involved with genetic services. The level of autonomy is limited in this learning role.
RequiredCurrent Temporary Genetic Counselor License in the State of Utah.Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
