Job Summary

Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects for a university department/college/area. Develops plans and prepares proposals by conducting research, coordinating with departments and board members, and/or meeting with potential donors, corporations, or foundations. Writes proposals and budgets for submission. Develops long-term donor relationships and solicits/stewards gifts in the 5 to 7-figure range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (One year of education is equivalent to two years of experience).
• Six years of related experience.

Essential Functions

• Identifies major gift prospects, develops plans, and solicits gifts for an area
• Prepares proposals by conducting research, coordinating with departments and board members, meeting with potential donors, and writing proposals and budgets for submission
• Plans strategies and goals to increase fund-raising effectiveness with individual prospects and donors.
• Plan and execute cultivation and acknowledgment events.
• Analyzes market research and performance data to aid in fundraising.
• Develops long-term relationships with potential donors and solicits gifts in the 5 to 7-figure range.
• Develops gift agreements for larger or more complex gifts, pledges, and endowments.
• Ensures appropriate recognition and stewardship of donors.
• Maintains prospect management system for donors, including active plans.
• Ensures gifts are deposited correctly and reconciled with accounting system.
• Maintains prospect management system for donors, including active plans.
• May oversee annual giving, alumni, or membership programs
