Job Summary

Performs or assists with development activities for a university department/college/area, including developing appeals; cultivating alumni, members, donors and/or prospective donors; planning events; soliciting gifts; and ensuring appropriate stewardship. May develop long-term relationships with potential donors and solicit gifts in the 5-figure range.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (One year of education is equivalent to two years of experience).
  • Two years of related experience.

Essential Functions

  • Performs or assists with development activities for a university department/college/area, including developing appeals, cultivating alumni, members, donors and/or prospective donors, soliciting gifts, and ensuring all gifts are acknowledge
  • Plans, develops, and implements development programs and events
  • Prepares proposals by conducting research, coordinating with departments and board members, meeting with potential donors, corporations, or foundations, and writing proposals and budgets for submission.
  • May develop long-term relationships with potential donors and solicit gifts in the 5-figure range.
  • Develops gift agreements for larger or more complex gifts, pledges, and endowments.
  • Ensures appropriate recognition and stewardship of donors.
  • Ensures gifts are deposited correctly and reconciled with accounting system.
  • Coordinates volunteer services and acts as a liaison with volunteer advisory boards, as well as department administrators, donors, and University advancement office.
  • Maintains prospect management system for donors, including active plans.
  • May visit locally or travel to see actual or potential donors independently and represent the area at community meetings or events.
  • May oversee membership program, including establishing levels and benefits, recruitment, renewal, and benefits fulfillment
