Job Summary

Directs and oversees all operations within a particular function of research development. The Director identifies and fully understands key customer requirements and implements best practice tools, processes, and procedures to achieve exceptional customer service aligned with research goals. This position is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and auditing functions of all services.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree + four years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree + eight years of related experience or 16 years of related experience.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees department staff management including recruitment, performance evaluations and retention of staff.
  • Authorizes the purchase and implementation of new technology, resources and equipment.
  • Develops and interprets department polices to ensure compliance with the University’s policies and regulatory requirements. May authorize exceptions to department policy and procedures related to assigned departments. Ensures compliance with Federal and state regulations.
  • Involved in hiring decisions for assigned unit and acts as a direct supervisor to staff.
  • May perform responsibilities as a Research Development Associate V.
  • Issues faced are often highly complex and uniquely challenging, requiring extensive consideration of variables that impact multiple areas outside of the job area.
