Job Summary

Manages and directs the activities and staff involved in developing and maintaining research development activities. Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + two years of related experience or 10 years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Essential Functions

• Serves as a subject matter expert to team members and customers in addressing and resolving research development issues.
• Remains current on research administration and development advancements
• Ensures competency of staff, determines departmental training needs, develops and presents educational programs and training as needed, mentors, coaches and oversees ongoing staff performance management.
• Involved in hiring decisions for assigned unit and acts as a direct supervisor to staff.
• May perform responsibilities as a Research Development Associate II.
• Applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity
• Issues are varied, and involve some evaluation and interpretation. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue, requiring innovation and creativity.
