Job Title: Assoc Dir, Animal Care

Job Summary

Assists director in oversight of the animal care program, policy, planning, and administration. Holds direct supervisory responsibilities for one or more components of facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree + two years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree + six years of related experience or 14 years of related experience.
  • LATG or CVT

Essential Functions

  • Independently manages and mentors supervisory staff
  • High-level implementation of department programs and services
  • Engages with key stakeholders to ensure needs will be met
  • Creates culture of continuous quality improvement
  • Oversees resourcing for program areas, manages to financials
  • Assists the Director and Sr. Director in strategic visioning and planning for specific program areas

Comments

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:

  • Nearly Continuously: Standard vivarium environment; with typical vivarium environmental hazards and concerns. Standard laboratory environment; Safety shoes are required to be worn by all employees working in animal facilities
  • Seldom: Occasionally handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, rarely coming in contact with hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required:

  • Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking, walking.
  • Often: Bending, reaching overhead, twisting.
  • Seldom: Lifting - up to 50 pounds, kneeling, squatting.
