Job Title: Corporate Relations Manager

Job Summary

Directs and oversees the development and management of alliances or partnerships that assist the organization in meeting its strategic business objectives. The Corporate Relations Manager will work closely with university stakeholders and will operate as a complementary partner to grow corporate engagement beyond existing University and unit relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, staff management, and effective communications skills required.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary Utah relationship manager for a portfolio of corporate accounts. Maintain strong relationships with key liaisons in each company.
  • Develop a strong knowledge base of the U faculty and research community—including their research interests and expertise—and drive relationship development with companies with mutual interests.
  • Selects business objectives or initiatives that would benefit from external alliances or partnerships.
  • Proactively develop strategies, identify opportunities to raise awareness of the U with companies, and encourage more companies to invest in long-term relationships with the University.
  • Develops a plan for identifying, engaging, and maintaining mutually beneficial partnerships or alliances.
  • Develops and delivers presentations demonstrating the value of potential partnership opportunities.
  • Directs the due diligence process when evaluating potential partners and negotiates terms.
  • Develops messaging or talking points used in partnership-related communications.
  • Represents the University externally to develop additional business
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination
