Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of Business Development within the Office of Network Development and Telehealth with dual accountability to School of Medicine Department Leadership. The selected candidate will be responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives as identified by the Office of Network Development, Hospital Service Lines, and the School of Medicine Department leadership. This individual will act as a liaison between University of Utah Health and referring providers in order to increase utilization of identified U Health services, streamline the referral process, resolve issues, and communicate new programs and services. The candidate will possess strong communication skills in order to build meaningful relationships with providers in an assigned territory.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency.
  • Four years of related experience.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a related field.

Essential Functions

  • Builds, maintains and expands relationships with referring providers and their support staff to make University of Utah Health the preferred provider of choice for referred patients.
  • Educates providers on University of Utah Health specialty services, particularly new products and services.
  • Ensures regular contact and exchange of feedback is occurring between University of Utah Health and external providers.
  • Documents encounters and market intelligence in CRM and shares critical market intel with leadership.
  • Understands methods for making data driven decisions to appropriately identify and target meaningful opportunities.
  • Gathers feedback on patient and provider satisfaction and packages intelligence in CRM.
  • Assists in resolving complaints on service delivery issues in conjunction with the Manager of Provider Communications.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the referral and service delivery process through tactful questioning and interactions with providers and staff members.
  • Educates and registers referring providers on EPIC Link to ensure communication regarding shared patients is accessible and obtainable.
  • Coordinates opportunities for new University of Utah Health providers to interact with internal referring providers and assists in outreach onboarding process.
  • Demonstrates the value of their efforts through meeting key performance indicators and quantifying success of their initiatives with supporting data.
  • Maintains detailed records of interactions and outreach initiatives. Produces reports and assists in analyzing data for trends in referral patterns and opportunities.
  • Coordinates efforts and functions as an effective team member with market managers, service line and department leadership. Ensures there is frequent and timely communication and avoids duplication of efforts.

  • Clinical knowledge/background is preferred.
  • Ability to conduct themselves in a manner that portrays the PROMISE standards of University of Utah Health.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with, support and influence the behavior and activities of referring physicians, management and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical business operations processes and procedures.
  • Effective public speaking/presenting skills. Ability to represent the organization in social and public settings. Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and in a group setting, high integrity, reasoned and thoughtful judgment, a sense of urgency and analytical and intuitive skills.
  • Flexibility as it relates to schedule, responsibilities and priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in business systems, technology, and social media.
  • Ability to analyzing data in order to identify key opportunities for business growth.
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical referral patterns and ability to communicate clinical data points and outcomes to drive results.
