Job Summary

Plans, directs and evaluates the activities of assigned departments to meet the University's education and research mission. Included in these responsibilities are: fiscal accountability, staff management, quality management, process improvement, and systems development.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent; ten years of progressively more responsible experience or equivalency; demonstrated skills in leadership, management, financial planning, quality improvement and service delivery within assigned area; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Essential Functions

  1. Establishes the organization mission and values.
  2. Direct the development of departmental goals through strategic planning.
  3. Provides leadership and direction for all related departments; oversees department activities consistent with the overall objectives of the University.
  4. Plans, directs, and coordinates the entire operation of departmentaI facilities.
  5. Directs the financial planning and preparation of budgets.
  6. Directs the allocation of space and resources.
  7. Serves and participates on University and outside committees.
  8. Communicates to the execitive staff the financial status and other operating conditions of related departments for the purpose of improving organization performance.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking. 

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
