Job Summary

Under general supervision, operates video cameras and related equipment in the production and editing of videos to support educational, research, grant, public relations or student services.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a related field plus two years experience in performing professional media-related services, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Essential Functions

1. Records and monitors video from multiple cameras in various rooms.
2. Edits recordings with non-linear editing programs.
3. Performs sound production for video projects.
4. Troubleshoots video and audio recording devices.
5. Operates switcher to allow video signal sharing throughout a building.
6. Communicates effectively with faculty, staff, and/or others involved in facilitating video projects.   
7. Organizes and maintains videos in computer database.
8. Sets up AV equipment for auditorium and special events.
9. Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs.
10. Organizes and maintains compliance, licensing and warranty information on behalf of the audio visual facility.

Problem Solving

The incumbent will prioritize daily tasks and has the authority to make technical decisions as to visual and audio recording specifications, schedule editing sessions, determine the appropriate course of action for minor repairs and purchase supplies and parts under $500. Incumbent must be able to troubleshoot technical difficulties, function effectively in pressure situations and under time constraint, and coordinate staff to cover simultaneous production needs. S/he will refer to the manager for issues outside of program policy and procedure guidelines.

Comments

This position requires the ability to work long or unusual hours to accommodate a variety of schedules.   Travel may also be required.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
