Job Title: Manufacturing Consultant

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Consultant initiates and maintains relationships with manufacturers, assesses their challenges and opportunities, and sells continuous improvement consulting and training solutions. Manufacturing Consultants provide direct consultation to manufacturers within their own area of expertise, prepare proposals deliver sales presentations, and manage project engagements. They also develop and manage third party resources, and participate on service development and process improvement teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on manufacturing, engineering, technology, and consulting and/or business management required. Master’s Degree preferred. Four years or more of advanced experience in manufacturing sales, consultative sales and/or business-to-business sales preferred.

Essential Functions

Analyze customer needs and identify potential University resources. Lead sales calls and deliver sales presentations. Coordinate sales efforts with technical experts. Build the sales pipeline and network to generate sales leads. Familiar with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead or direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.
