Job Title: Scientific/Medical Animator

Job Summary

A scientific/medical animator is a professional digital artist with specialized training and advanced education in science, medicine, art, design, visual technology, media techniques, and in theories related to communication and learning. Collaborating with scientists, physicians, and other content specialists, medical illustrators serve as visual translators of complex technical information to support education, medical and life science research, patient care, patient education, and public relations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Design, Biology, or a related area, plus one year of related experience, or equivalency; demonstrated effective communication skills; the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.

Essential Functions

  1. Uses advanced 3D animation and compositing software to create accurate and dynamic visualizations of scientific or medical processes
  2. Uses traditional or digital techniques to create 2D illustrations of medical or scientific content, including storyboards
  3. Meets with clients, discusses and plans new projects, and receives feedback on projects that are in progress
  4. Teaches visualization techniques to new members of the team, and stays up-to-date on the latest software and techniques
