Job Summary

The Area Coordinator for Residential Education (AC) position is a 12 month, full-time, live-in, professional staff position within Housing & Residential Education and the Student Affairs Division at the University of Utah. The AC provides oversight to a comprehensive student-focused program for a residential community of 800 to 1300 students.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, or related field, plus four years of experience, or equivalency, required.

Essential Functions

  1. Supervises and provides training and ongoing professional development for staff.
  2. Directs day-to-day operations of an assigned residential area and functional area.
  3. Directs staff in residential communities and functional areas to meet learning outcomes defined by HRE’s Residential Curriculum
  4. Assists in the development and proper interpretation of policies and procedures among staff and students.
  5. Serves as a liaison to Administrative Services, Accounting, and Facilities staff regarding resident management.
  6. Maintains an area budget and approves staff expenditures in accordance with purchasing guidelines.
  7. Assists in strategic plan implementation.
  8. Takes part in a 24/7 on-call duty rotation along with all HRE Area Coordinator staff.
  9. Responds to and processes policy violations.
