Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with daily quality assurance/quality control functions. It is responsible for inventory, audits, environmental monitoring and coordination of donor recruitment, consenting and collection of birthing tissue.
Qualifications
Associate degree in a related area or equivalency; and one year of general office and computer experience required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Preferences include quality assurance experience, database entry experience, experience with donor eligibility, and Phlebotomy Technician certification.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Essential Functions
1. Performs daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual QC/PM on equipment.2. Oversees inventory control for supplies and reagents which included monitoring supply levels, ordering receipt and verification of incoming supplies, quality release into usable inventory and restocking work areas.3. Assists with release of patient products for transplant and/or disposal.4. Performs vendor qualification on all vendors used.5. Assist in environmental monitoring, including plating, ACTION/ALERT reports and compiling data.6. Assists with QA/QC audits.7. Equipment and Laboratory Cleaning.8. Assists in maintaining quality control records necessary for accrediting agencies and quality assurance indicators.9. Writes reviews and edits applicable SOP’s and forms/worksheets.10. Receives and double checks product coming into facility, either from associated hospitals or from another stem cell lab.11. Assists with writing and performing validations.12. Coordinates with OB physicians and Labor Delivery staff to recruit and consent potential birthing tissue donors. Collects birthing tissue as required.13. Compiles data on enrolled mothers and infants, conducts confidential interviews detailing medical history, and social and genetic risk factors.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and determine the order of importance. Demonstrated ability to coordinate work processes with other departments, community, governmental or regulatory agencies and must understand the objectives and policies governing the activities of the department and be able to effectively communicate this information to interested parties. Demonstrated ability to problem solve in the validation and calibration of the lab equipment and environmental monitoring.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
