Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the clinical Bone Marrow Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine Programs; for collection, processing, storing and the infusion of peripheral stem cell or bone marrow products used for hematopoietic rescue or bone marrow transplant. This position will also assist in the execution of experiments, analyses, and presentation of data for the Regenerative Medicine Program.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years experience in a laboratory, research, or related environment. Medical Technologist with ASCP or NCA certification preferred. Master’s degree in a biological science or related field preferred. Two years lab experience in bone marrow processing and stem cell collection with exposure to blood banking, hematology, cell culture and apheresis preferred.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Essential Functions
1. Performs all essential functions of a Cell Therapy Technologist I.
2. Designs and performs methods and procedures on new assignments.
3. Provides input to determine methods and procedures of experimental design.
4. Responsible for reproducibility and accuracy of data and analyses. Assists in the collation of data and report preparation.
5. Provides training and guidance to junior personnel and trains others on techniques and methods as required.
6. Monitors and orders supplies and reagents.
7. May present at internal and external meetings.
8. Manages project timelines, budgets, scope and labor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required of this position include:
Demonstrated familiarity with cryopreservation, microbiology, sterile technique and safe handling of potentially infectious human blood/tissues. Demonstrated analytical skills. Shows initiative and requires ability to successfully perform routine tasks and requires minimal instructions on new assignments. Makes detailed observations, analyzes and interprets data for supervisor’s review. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills. Ability to work holidays and weekends and be on-call. Demonstrated familiarity with computer programs (Excel, Word, and data transfer programs). Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and experience with quality assurance standards. Ability to exercise judgment in adapting and applying techniques and methods.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
