Job Summary
Examines and screens patients with eye problems, such as those related to ocular motility, binocular vision, amblyopia, or strabismus. Investigates and helps diagnose defects of binocular vision and abnormalities of eye movement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Vocational degree, technical school degree, hospital training program or equivalent years of experience may be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
Completed Orthoptic Fellowship
3 - 5 years of hands-on experience involving the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and neuro-opthalmology patients.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Essential Functions
1. Perform motility measurements in the Neuro-Opthalmology Clinic
2. Perform complicated motility assessment for adult strabismus patients in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus clinic
3. Perform mogility assessment of all new pediatric stabismus patients
4. Perform pre-dialiation motility assessment on any follow up pediatric patient notied to have any motility abnormality
5. Teach basic motility assessment to technicians (didactic and hands-on)
6. Hands-on teaching of residents in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus clinic.
Comments
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
