University of Utah Job Description
Develops and implements policies, programs and financial objectives for department campus safety and crime reduction programs and policies. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws. Develops, implements and manages security and police services including (but not limited to), police services, security, and law enforcement programs, police service planning, security equipment management, organizational development, and community relations. Participates in preparing department budgets and in setting department goals. Ensures continuity and quality customer service between University departments and community.
Bachelor’s degree in Police Science, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; Master’s degree in related area preferred; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and Police Academy Category 1 Police Officer certification, and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Qualified applicants must successfully complete a thorough background investigation, and must be willing to submit to a drug screening test.
Administrative familiarity with the Spillman CAD-RMS or similar system is highly desirable.
