Job Summary

The fellowship is a comprehensive learning opportunity which refines the individual’s analytical, technical, decision-making, interpersonal and managerial skills while providing broad exposure to healthcare issues within the hospital and medical foundation. This is a one-year fellowship.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in business, a health field, or a related field and a Master’s Degree in business, health care administration or a related field required. Effective interpersonal skills and superior communication, presentation and facilitation skills are also required. This position has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients. This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. Essential Functions

  1. Participates and leads ongoing planning and execution of projects as assigned by the Preceptor and members of Senior Management.
  2. Obtains, analyzes, synthesizes and interprets industry and institutional data, as well as market utilization and financial data.Assists in obtaining and evaluating benchmark data.
  3. Performs independent analysis of operational, financial and statistical information using spreadsheets, financial modeling software and computer aided design software as assigned.
  4. Prepares presentation – quality reports.
  5. Presents, communicates and disseminates findings.
  6. Provides staff support for committee meetings, including preparation of minutes and reports. Monitors and coordinates progress of committees.
  7. Participates in rotations throughout the hospitals to contribute to the fellows learning about the operation of an academic medical center.
  8. Maintains a current knowledge of emerging healthcare challenges facing hospitals and healthcare systems nationally.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the members of the Senior Management Team.

Comments

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
