Job Title: Irrigation Technology Spec

Job Summary

This position operates, maintains, programs, and monitors the Maxicom central irrigation control system and weather station on campus. The position will assist irrigation crews to troubleshoot irrigation issues, and reviews irrigation construction documents, specifications, and irrigation design and mapping. Works closely with the landscape maintenance supervisor, and other internal and external customers to coordinate irrigation schedules and serves as the technical resource for the department.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalency
  • 5 years experience in horticulture, landscape/irrigation maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with the growing requirements of ornamental and annual varieties of trees and shrubs, and various drought tolerant turfs.
  • Formal irrigation technical training in Maxicom or similar central control system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Excel
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, 900 MHz radio, and Wi-Fi protocols
  • Possession of a valid Landscape Irrigation Auditor certificate
  • Valid driver’s license • Excellent communication and problem solving skills

Essential Functions

  1. Programs, monitors, and schedules Maxicom central control irrigation system and weather station.
  2. Maintains Maxicom hardware, updates irrigation controllers, and orders necessary parts and supplies.
  3. Maintains records, collects data, and prepares reports to provide information on irrigation design and evaluate system efficiency.
  4. Assists with developing and updating procedure manuals to address irrigation management program guidelines and objectives.
  5. Utilizes weather consumption data to set up, program, and adjust watering schedules.
  6. Works with internal and external customers to support activities related to the Maxicom central control irrigation system.
  7. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, diagrams, job orders, or other equipment specifications.
  8. Performs snow removal as needed.
  9. May operate heavy equipment such as a snow plow, backhoe, loader, or other similar equipment in emergency situations.

Comments

This position will be required to participate in the on-call shift schedule and respond as needed.
