Disclaimer

This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.  It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.

Essential Functions

  1. Analyzes information on blueprints and utilizes appropriate software programs to convert data into graphic reprepresentation to generate map composition, ensuring appropriate match of all coordinances to provide accurate locations.
  2. Programs macros, using ARK Macro Language (AML) to facilitate the ease and consistency of data conversion for graphic representation.
  3. Resolves problems with graphic displays that give revised interpretations of previously entered data to ensure accuracy of finished map/s.
  4. Meets with project team to discuss project progress and direction to ensure focus is sustained.
  5. Organizes data, and lists by account number and description of account, so representation of the project area is sufficient to enable future location and retrieval.
  6. Stays current with software changes and updates to provide state-of-the-art technology and expediency in completing projects and meeting user needs.
  7. Communicates with client users, on occasion, to clarify inconsistent data to ensure accuracy in project results.

Comments

The incumbent has the authority to determine whether to split converted data, i.e. different layers to represent different pipes, fixtures, etc. for clarity for the client. He/she also has the authority to make minor changes in the way data is converted.

Certain complex data organization is referred to the supervisor, as is the decision on whether to spend time to redo something that is only slightly inaccurate versus proceeding with the project.

Problems faced most frequently by the incumbent involve deciding which information is correct when two different projects of some areas conflict, keeping large numbers of blueprints organized, and continually creating ways to make data conversion easier and more consistent.
